Obituary of Mary E. Pope

MARY E. POPE Age 82, on Wednesday, December 12, 2012, of Edgewood. She was the loving wife of John M. Pope for 63 years; she is survived by her children, Bill Pope (Toni), Carol Hallberg and the late Kurt, Kathryn Pope, Jane Richmann (Scot Singleton), Lynn Borders (Adam); and her grandchildren, Katherine Hallberg, Timothy Lynch, Sara Pope, Brenden Borders, and Kaesey Borders; she is also survived by her sister, Eleanor Flowers; and her brother, Mark Ellis. She was an avid gardener and was a member of the Forest Hills Garden Club, a 40 year past member and president Emeritus of the Edgewood Garden Club and a longtime member of the Pennsylvania State Garden Club Federation. She was recognized by the National Gardening Club Federation in 2010 as a member of honor for the Central Atlantic Region in the area of Horticulture. She also received the Elizabeth Potts Amidon Horticulture award, the district VII Hummingbird award and was on the roll of honor for the Garden Club Federation of Pennsylvania. Friends received Friday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the THOMAS L. NIED FUNERAL HOME, INC., 7441 Washington St., Swissvale.
