I was sorry to hear of Beth’s passing. We were close friends in high school and kept in touch throughout the years. She loved to laugh and she was a good listener. She was a good friend. My deepest sympathy to her family.

I miss my little sister Beth (affectionately known as “Little Bit”. I know she is in a better place with no pain and no worries. But I selfishly miss her.
She was my first ‘roomie’. We shared a room almost all of our childhood. That means we shared secrets. We shared stories. We talked about the equities of life – like why I got punished for some misdemeanor and she didn’t. Or why I got to stay up later that she did (I was 2 years older!) And then after brother Jack was born, who got/had to be responsible for him. We had a delightful childhood starting with living in a small courtyard of homes over which we were all approximately same age and we were able to run wild! We went to Conneaut Lake for the summers where we also had great freedom to explore together. We also were surrounded by extended family with mandatory birthdays and holiday celebrations. I remember one Easter when we both got 7 Easter baskets of candy – like I said, we were lucky! I teased Beth because she went to kindergarten for 2 years – told her she failed! (Mom somehow arranged that – never quite sure how) We moved to Edgewood in 1956ish and walked to st James school (truly over 1 mile 1 way) and we walked home for lunch and back – talking all the way. The next year we transferred to Edgewood public school. Shorter walk and new friends, but thankfully no uniforms. Beth was smart and did very well in school. She went to & graduated from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. I had lost my “roomie”.
I moved away (I had many moves in fact) Beth stayed in the Pittsburgh area. She had a professional career and also had a career as a Mom to her son Gary and a responsibility of some care/oversight of our parents – all of whom continued to live in Edgewood. Beth was there for them when first our Dad and then later our Mother died. Then she was the main caregiver for our brother Jack until his death in 2019.
In her later years her health was deteriorating. We never got to be roomies again. But I still remember and miss my “Little Bit” sister. And I pray each day that God is enfolding her is His arms, filling her with love and peace.
