Obituary of Vincent A. Donatelli

Vincent Donatelli

Passed peacefully in his sleep on December 27th, 2022. He spent the majority of his 96 years in Pittsburgh after coming to the United states from Italy in his early 20's. He met Mary Jo Marino and they were married in 1954 and enjoyed 68 years together.

Vince was a US Army veteran and worked for St. Anselm Parish in Swissvale for twenty years until his retirement in 1988. Prior to that he spent many years as a stone mason and brick layer in the Pittsburgh area. One of his proudest accomplishments was laying stone for the construction of the former St. Anthony's church and facilities in Oakmont, PA. In his 34 years of retirement he never hesitated to lend a tool or his expert knowledge to a friend or neighbor making a home repair. His only request was, "Do a good job."

He was a proud supporter of Pittsburgh sports teams and loved to listen to many games on the radio and later on TV. He was never far from a Terrible Towel or a Penguins hat.

Grandpa, as he was referred to by many, was the proud father of three sons. Joseph (Susan), Dario (Kathy) and Vince (Karen). He enjoyed spending time and imparting his wisdom and philosophy of life on his thirteen grandchildren; Amanda, Jenny,  Lexi, Nicole, Vincent, Alexander, Dario, Zachary, Angelo, Joseph, Angela, Samuel, Emma. In later years he enjoyed the addition of eleven great-grandchildren.

Friends received 3-8 P.M. THURSDAY ONLY at the Thomas L. Nied Funeral Home Inc. 7441 Washington Street, Swissvale. A Mass of Christian Burial in the Word of God Roman Catholic Church on Friday morning at 10 A.M.
