Obituary of Thomas Gunnell

Thomas Gerald "Gunny" Gunnell passed away surrounded by his family on March 21, 2022. Born on 11-14-51 to the late Irene and Gerald Gunnell of Swissvale, PA. Tom was a Marine and became part of the 101st Airborne. He served two tours in Vietnam and received the Purple Heart, Silver Star and The Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross. Tom was a green beret and tunnel rat, completing several heroic missions. Tom's bravery and commitment to our country was only ever modestly described. Tom is survived by his sister Constance (Daniel) Gunnell Wolf; children, Dana (Jason) Stabile, Chad (Jennifer) Gunnell; grandchildren, Erik, Nick and Mia; the mother of his children, Cindy Gunnell; niece Cassie (Michael), nephew Josh (Melissa); and several great nieces and nephews. Tom was preceded in death by his sister, Catherine Gunnell. Tom was also preceded in death by his second wife, Rose Gunnell.
