THEODORE H. COLCOMBE

 

Age 88, of Swissvale formerly of Penn Hills passed away peacefully surrounded by family on February 26, 2022. Born on March 12, 1933. He was the beloved husband of 62 years to his devoted wife, Shirley (Sposit) Colcombe. Cherished father to Tom (Victoria) Colcombe and Tim Colcombe. Treasured Pappy to Tim (Jennifer) Colcombe, Bryan Colcombe, Victoria (Dominic) Taylor, Kyla Colcombe and Kasey (fiance, Sadie Kiggins) Colcombe. He was brother to Ruth Ann Colcombe Weible, Raymond Colcombe, Candy Colcombe Spehar, and predeceased by his brother, Eddie Colcombe. Ted was born and raised in Butler, PA then served in the US Army during the Korean War. Raising his family with his beloved wife, they went on numerous summer cross country camping trips in their pop up and also enjoyed square dancing. He was known to never sit still and always had a good joke to tell. He worked as a US Postal Mail Carrier and enjoyed his route in the Pittsburgh Zoo area for 30+ years before retiring, where he continued to be involved with the Union. In retirement, his passions included entertaining in parades, events and parties, as a children's clown known as Zip Teddy the Clown bringing smiles, laughter, and balloon creations to many. He was a Shriner for 34 years with Syria Shriners, Past Monarch and member of the Islam Grotto, and had an uncanny charisma and charm with businesses to convince them to donate toys, bikes, and other items for benefit of Shrine events and in particular the children. A Memorial Remembrance and Prayer Service will take place Thursday, March 3, 2022 from 9-11 at the THOMAS L. NIED FUNERAL HOME, INC., 7441 Washington St., Swissvale, 15218. His final resting place will be at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies in Bridgeville, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Ted's name to the Humanitarian Foundation Grottoes of NA www.hfgrotto.org. www.niedfuneralhome.com
