Kathleen Rita Maria (McAndrew) Berry

 

 

Passed away at 5:13 A.M. on Tuesday, February 1, 2022, aged 90 years, 7 months, and 25 days young, of Swissvale Borough, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania.  Loving wife of 56 years, 4 months, and 14 days of Ralph James Berry, deceased of Swissvale, PA.  Loving mum of Frank Antonio Berry,  a United States marine Veteran and Ralph Gregory Berry, National Guard Veteran, both of Swissvale, PA.  Also the late Michael Louis Joseph Berry who had passed away on June 1, 1979  and two of the most beloved mini-dachshunds a mum could ever pray for in their life.  Snookie Laura Berry 2007-2013 and Snookie Rosie Berry 2013-2018.  Mum was the last surviving member of her family and mum also outlived all of her husband, brothers and sisters as well.  

 

Mum was born on Tuesday, June 30, 1931 in Swissvale, Pennsylvania at the home of her parents, the late Michael McAndrew and Mary Katherine (Deane) McAndrew.  Mum is a life long citizen of Swissvale, PA, and a very devout and Ardent Roman Catholic, being a member of the Parish at St. Anselm Roman Catholic Church since her birth and baptism in June 1931.  Fifty years ago in January 1972 mum was an original founding member of the Swissvale Borough, PA branch of the Legion of Mary.  Mary Immaculate Presidium and the last original surviving member to be active up to the time of her passing.   Mum received the Anointing of the Sick on Friday, January 28, 2022.  Both her sons held mum’s hands and prayed for her and told mum they truly loved her over many visits over many weeks.  In the isolation ward as she bravely fought a mild case of Plague.  

 

Due to this plague, a wake and celebration of life will be scheduled during warmer weather, sometime between June 2022 and October 2022.  We will contact family and friends at that future time.  In lieu of flowers please consider in your charity masses to be said for mum’s eternal soul and memorial donations directly to the Berry Family of Swissvale, PA.  Friends received 2-5 & 6-9 P.M. Thursday, February 10, 2022 at the THOMAS L. NIED FUNERAL HOME INC.  7441 Washington Street Swissvale, PA.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be said at 10 A.M.  at St. Anselm Roman Catholic Church, McClure Avenue, Swissvale, PA, St. Joseph the worker Parish.  Catholic entombment will take place directly  after mass at All Saints Braddock Catholic Cemetery, Braddock Hills, PA.  The Berry family is very thankful for all your prayers.
