Obituary of Francis J. Fisher

FRANCIS JAMES FISHER Age 88, formerly of Swissvale PA, passed away on September 13, 2021. Francis "Frank" was born in Braddock, PA on October 14, 1932. He married Mary Jo (DiPerna) Fisher in 1960, in Swissvale, PA, and raised his family there. He was a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh and worked as a systems analyst for IBM and Westinghouse. Frank was an Army veteran having served during the Korean War. Frank was preceded in death by his parents, Francis John and Mary (Coyle) Fisher, and his sister, Mary Carroll. Frank is survived by his wife Mary Jo (DiPerna), his four children, Thomas (Janet), Josephine (Mark Kubaska), Evelyn, and Francis (Jane); his seven beloved grandchildren, Elizabeth, Thomas, Robert, Peter, Matthew, Maura, and Joseph; his sister Diane (James) Brady; brother- and sister-in-law James and Eileen DiPerna; brother-in-law Fred Carroll; and several loving nieces and nephews. Frank had a deep love for Pittsburgh sports, especially the Steelers, as well as Notre Dame football. He enjoyed watching John Wayne and WWII movies, and he particularly enjoyed watching old-time movies with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed music, reading, doing crossword puzzles, building model airplanes, and spending time with his family. He had a sly sense of humor, but never minded hearing the same bad jokes repeatedly told by his children for his amusement. Frank, Dad, Pops, Grandpa, PaPa will be greatly missed.
