Obituary of David A. Boyer

Please share a memory of David to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
David A. Boyer Age 67, of Harrison Township, formerly of Highland Park and Grove City, PA, passed away on June 26, 2021. Son of the late Raymond and Ann Boyer; beloved husband and best friend of Jeanne (Elliott) Boyer; brother of Barbara A. Boyer. Brother-in-law to Nancy Flinner and her late husband Brad, and Judy Mysels and her husband Rob. Loving uncle to Julianna and Drew Paluch, Jessica Moore, Garrett Moore, Mariah Mysels, Shane Mysels and his girlfriend Hayley Burchell. Special family members Donna and Ed Kott. He also leaves behind his loved Beagles, Danica (his "girlfriend") and Barrett-Jackson. Dave was a graduate of the Western Pennsylvania School for Blind Children, Geneva College and the Beaver County Medical Center. He worked at Shadyside hospital as a diagnostic imaging technician for 22 years before having to retire due to his loss of vision. Most of his years at Shadyside, he worked in the ORs. He was hounded by many publications to write about the only legally blind OR diagnostic imaging technician in the country, which he never gave into their requests. He was an avid fisherman, boater, bowler and volleyball player prior to losing his vision completely. He loved music, which brought him to being a DJ on the Geneva College radio station while he attended college and singing Karaoke. His love of classic cars led him into many different arenas, including Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix, annual trips to Spring and Ford Carlisle, multiple car cruises and shows where he and Jeanne would show off their 1969 Mustang Mach 1 and hosting a Barrett-Jackson classic car auction party every January for all his "gearhead" friends. He had a huge circle of friends from all walks of life, and he loved his Happy Hours at Cappy's Café in Shadyside with his close friends, the Corner Crew. Dave had a heart of gold, was loving and generous to all his family and friends and will be missed by many who mourn his loss. His selfless donation to CORE will go on to help those in need. In lieu of flowers, we are requesting donations, in his name, to be made to the Western Pennsylvania School for Blind Children, 201 North Bellefield Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15213. Friends received 12-4 & 6-8 P.M. Friday, and 9-11 A.M. Saturday at the THOMAS L. NIED FUNERAL HOME INC. 7441 Washington Street, Swissvale. A service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday morning at 11 A.M. www.niedfuneralhome.com
