Obituary of Joseph John Grana

Joe Grana passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, June 3rd, 2021, he was 89 years old. Nancy (McConnell), his loving wife of 68 years was by his side. Joe was born to Michael and Apollonia Grana in Swissvale on December 6, 1931. He was a graduate of Swissvale High School. He was in the grocery business from a young age, working in the family business and then opening his own store in Swissvale in 1967 until 2006. Joe is also survived by his nine children, Michael, Mary "Cissy" Villiotti (Ralph), Mark, Nancy Deacon (Dan), Patty Lampeseld (Dale), Gerri McDaniel (Jack), Joe (Jen), Cathy "Chickie" Owens (Steve), and Connie. He was the proud grandfather of 15 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Ann Grana and is preceded in death by five siblings, Mario, Gerri, Phil, Michael, Jennie. Joe lost his cousin and lifelong friend, Michael Cucchiara just this past year. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Joe will be missed by family and friends alike; he was a very active and valued member of the Swissvale Rotary Club where he served several years as President. He was a faithful usher at St. Anselm Church. He was an avid stamp collector and frequent blood donor. Joe loved telling stories, but he was also interested in hearing yours.
