Please share a memory of Rosemarie to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Rosemarie R. Miele, age 78, of Swisshelm Park, passed away Saturday afternoon, November 28, 2020, at her home surrounded by her family. She was born in 1942, in Pittsburgh, PA, the eldest child of the late Saverio and Vera Rocco. Rose is lovingly remembered by her husband of 58 years, Robert; three children: Robert, Jennifer (Michael) Maloney, Susan (Robert) Voinchet; and ten grandchildren: Katherine Miele, Luke Miele, Peter Maloney, Julia Miele, John Maloney, Robert Voinchet, Madeline Miele, Isabella Voinchet, Christopher Maloney and Thomas Voinchet. She was sister to Tom (Yvonne) Rocco, Carol (Steve) Dvorchak, Sam (Patti) Rocco, and the late Joann (Mike) Horan. Rose was truly beautiful inside and out. She not only had the most beautiful smile and eyes, but she was smart and kind with a great sense of humor. Her passion was her family; Rose loved and cared deeply for her family and enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was an exceptional wife, mother and nonnie. At 5’1 feet tall, Rose was the smallest person in the family but she had the biggest heart that was full of love for all. Rose’s most accomplished gift to her family was her exquisite cooking and baking. There was no better chef than Rosemarie. From homemade bread and pies, easter bread, nut roll, lasagna, manicotti and everything Italian - she was the best. Every meal was outstanding. Her family never ate store bought bread, baked goods, or spaghetti sauce. Even though she was an extraordinary cook, Rose also enjoyed going out to dinner with her husband, friends and family. She was very picky though and judged every restaurant by the quality of its salad. Needless to say, she was very choosy about where she dined! Rose relished traveling - from annual summer vacations to the Outer Banks with her children and grandchildren to Bermuda, Virgin Gorda and the Amalfi Coast with her husband. Rose enjoyed being in beautiful places with the people she loved. Rose was an avid power walker no matter where she was. At home, she enjoyed walking figure 8’s around the drive with her daughters. At the beach, she loved to walk to “the fence” and back - a four mile roundtrip trek - and she usually did it several times a day! However, no matter where she ventured, she was known to start each walk with “ And we’re off like a herd of turtles!” Another favorite Rosie saying was “If you like it, buy it, it will go on sale.” Rose was the quintessential shopper. She enjoyed getting nicer things at a great price! A skill she passed on to her three children and grandchildren. Rose will be dearly missed by everyone; however, she will remain forever in the hearts of her loving husband, children and grandchildren. Friends received Thursday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Thomas L. Nied Funeral Home, Inc., 7441 Washington Street, Swissvale. Mass of Christian Burial will be held in the the St. Mary Magdalene Parish, St Bede Church, on Friday morning at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to The Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration.
